At Sterling College, we believe in the importance of a welcoming and familial atmosphere. Our staff is committed to this philosophy and the success of our students. Here is a list of some of our amazing faculty:


Jennifer Hope, International Admissions Manager

Jennifer has worked for the admissions team at Sterling College since 2012.  Prior to that, she worked as an art teacher and an ESL instructor in Japan, Mexico and Canada.  Her passion for traveling has taken her to over 30 countries. She brings this love of international cultures to her work with ESL students. Jennifer works with individuals and groups to achieve their language goals.


Elizabeth Coltart, Administrative Manager

Elizabeth has been working in Educational Administration for nearly 25 years and 15 of those have been with Sterling College. Having lived on Vancouver Island her whole life, she is keen to share her love of the community and it’s natural beauty with international students and to assist them with all their needs while studying and living in Victoria. Elizabeth acts as the first point of contact for many arriving at Sterling College. Her role as Administrative Manager is to facilitate the smooth functioning of the school’s operating processes on a daily basis, while providing support to all students, staff and the public.

Namiko Abe, Agent and Teen Support Coordinator

Namiko has been supporting international students and high school students as well as coordinating tour groups at Sterling College since 2013. She is also a Japanese teacher and has taught at the University of Victoria and Camosun College. Learning about other languages and cultures has been her passion since she was young. She enjoys interacting with students from different backgrounds, helping student’s individual needs and supporting them in the pursuit of their goals.

Yuko Kawasumi, Homestay and Administrative Coordinator

Yuko is the newest member of the Sterling College team who works as the Homestay Coordinator. Yuko is originally from Japan and has been living here for more than 20 years.  As a former international student, Yuko has a strong passion to support international students and feels fortunate to get to know each student coming to our school. As the Homestay Coordinator, Yuko truly enjoys working with many wonderful host families who provide a warm and caring family environment for our students.

David Bradley, Academic Director

David has been teaching English as a Second Language for over twenty-five years, including time in Japan, Thailand and here in Canada. He has worked for Sterling College since 2007 and has been Academic Director at our Victoria Campus since 2010. In 2015 students voted him Best ESL Teacher in Victoria. He has his students give their best effort in everything they try.

Thomas Hunsberger, Academic English teacher

Thomas has been teaching ESL for more than 30 years, including a long stretch in Mexico for 17 years. He has taught at Sterling College for 10 years.  His hobbies include painting, dancing and bike riding.

Robin McGeoughRobin McGeough

With teaching experience spanning Rwanda, Japan, Vietnam and Canada, Robin is a huge supporter of language learning and cross cultural exchanges. As French is his second language, Robin appreciates the commitment and enthusiasm it takes to make grammar stick and sentences flow. He recently completed his Masters in International Education at the University of Toronto and is keen to learn more about the world around him through his students.

Jaimy LangJaimy Lang

Jaimy has been a part of the ESL industry for over 8 years, with teaching experience in Europe and Canada. She and her family relocated to Victoria almost 2 years ago and have been enjoying all the amazing sights this beautiful city has to offer. Her favorite hobbies include playing the piano and reading.

Diana RibieroDiana Ribeiro

Diana has been working at Sterling College since 2004. Before that, she taught in Korea from 1995-2000. She can speak French and Portuguese. In her spare time, she enjoys beading and volunteering. She plans to get back into running soon and start yoga this decade.
