Position Overview:
The Senior Educational Administrator (SEA) at Sterling College, Vancouver, BC, plays a critical role in ensuring regulatory compliance and providing strategic guidance on regulatory matters. This position requires a strategic approach to interpreting complex regulations, identifying compliance gaps, and implementing necessary policy updates to support the College’s mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensuring that course outline(s), curriculum, and program outline of an approved program are relevant to the learning objectives of the program.
• Overseeing a performance evaluation process for instructors.
• Continuously reviewing relevant regulatory documents and announcements to advise the College President and Senior Administrators on forthcoming changes and developments.
• Interpreting complex regulations to provide strategic guidance on their potential impact on the college, assisting the College President and Senior Administration team.
• Identifying potential compliance gaps and recommending preventive measures to the College President.
• Collaborating on and updating policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving regulations.
• Preparing briefings and written summaries for leadership, including the College President, Senior Administrators, and the Board of Governors.
• Coordinating with various departments to integrate regulatory requirements into daily operations.
• Conducting audits to ensure the regular maintenance of all regulatory and compliance documentation.
• Reviewing regulatory submissions for accuracy and compliance as requested.
• Serving as an alternate contact for regulatory agencies in the absence of the College President.
• Contributing to and supporting relevant college initiatives, aligning actions with the institution’s mission, values, and goals.
• Undertaking other regulatory and compliance-related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a regulatory environment, with post-secondary regulatory experience considered a significant asset.
• Comparable education includes a credential in adult education, learning theory, curriculum development, instructional strategies, evaluation of learning, or technology/media-enhanced learning.
• Comparable work experience must include at least two years of full-time experience in adult education instruction, curriculum development, and evaluation of learning.
• For institutions offering flight training programs, Flight Instructor Certification is acceptable. For language programs, TESOL or a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults is acceptable.
• Comprehensive knowledge of legislation, regulations, and policies governing the post-secondary education system, including but not limited to the Degree Authorization Act, Private and Out-of-Province Public Institution Quality Assessment Criteria, Education Quality Assurance, and Degree Quality Assessment.
• Proven experience responding to regulatory inquiries from various stakeholders and advising on compliance policy development.

• Competence in ensuring compliance with legislation, regulation, and policy from both leadership and staff.
• Tactful and diplomatic handling of sensitive issues.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Outstanding writing skills, with experience drafting clear and concise correspondence and reports.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer applications.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of the administrative team.
