Job Title: Network Administration Instructor
Location: Sterling College

Position Summary:
The Network Administration Instructor will be responsible for teaching students the theoretical and practical aspects of network administration, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills to design, manage, troubleshoot, and secure networks. This role involves delivering course material, providing hands-on training, assessing student progress, and maintaining a supportive and effective learning environment for students pursuing careers in network administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum Delivery:
Deliver instructional content in alignment with the curriculum approved by the institution and in compliance with PTIB regulations.
Teach students concepts and practical skills related to network design, configuration, management, troubleshooting, and security.
Use a variety of teaching methods (e.g., lectures, labs, group discussions, demonstrations) to accommodate diverse learning styles.
Update course materials, instructional content, and lesson plans regularly to ensure they remain current with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies.
Student Assessment and Support:
Create and administer quizzes, assignments, practical labs, exams, and projects to assess student knowledge and skills.
Provide constructive and timely feedback to students on their performance.
Offer additional support to students through office hours, one-on-one meetings, and online consultations.
Advise students on career pathways, industry certifications, and opportunities for further education.
Hands-On Labs and Practical Training:
Oversee and guide students during lab sessions to provide practical, real-world experience in network configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
Ensure that all lab exercises and training setups are running smoothly and provide troubleshooting support as needed.
Develop and maintain practical lab environments using simulation software or real-world networking equipment.
Professional Development and Industry Engagement:
Stay current with new developments, tools, and techniques in network administration, including emerging trends in networking technologies, cybersecurity, and cloud computing.
Attend professional development workshops and industry conferences to improve teaching practices and technical knowledge.
Build relationships with industry partners and employers to facilitate guest lectures, internships, and employment opportunities for students.
Administrative Duties:
Keep accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress in accordance with institutional policies and PTIB guidelines.
Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum reviews, and program assessments as required.
Contribute to continuous program improvement by providing feedback on course structure, materials, and instructional methods.
Compliance with PTIB Regulations:
Ensure all teaching practices adhere to PTIB’s standards, including those related to student assessment, academic integrity, and student support.
Follow institutional policies and guidelines to ensure a positive and compliant learning environment.
Maintain necessary qualifications and certifications as required by PTIB and the institution for teaching in the field of network administration.
Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
Required:
A certificate, diploma, or post-secondary degree relevant to the subject, matter of the course and 2 years of work experience in a career occupation, relevant to the subject matter of the course. Or 10 years of work experience in a career occupation relevant to the subject
matter of the course
Industry-recognized certifications, such as Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or similar certifications related to network administration.
Preferred:
A master’s degree in a relevant field or specialized certifications (e.g., CCNP, CompTIA Security+).
Additional certifications in network security, cloud computing, or virtualization technologies are a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in network administration or related IT fields, including experience with configuring and managing local and wide area networks, firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, and network security.
Prior experience teaching or tutoring students in a classroom or practical setting, especially in a technical field, is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, etc.).
Proficiency in using network simulation tools (e.g., Cisco Packet Tracer, GNS3) and real-world networking hardware.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics in clear, understandable terms.
Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle classroom preparation, student assessments, and administrative tasks.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of a diverse student body.

Type of Position: Part time leading to Full-time
Job Type: Contract
Salary: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Days and hours: Monday to Friday, 5 hours a day, 20 hours a week.
